Big Band

The Oregon music school with the best Big Band is offering one of the top Oregon Jazz Studies programs.  Performances are big, bold, and powerful, with a style and finesse that rival most professional big bands.  In recent years, the Western Oregon Big Band accompanied Sonny Turner (The Platters) and sections of the band frequently play with touring groups.


Big band programs are popular in high schools as well and the Western Oregon Music department sponsors one of the top high school adjudications. 


Private lessons for the woodwind section of the big band is supported by legendary, Thomas (Tom) Bergeron, Ph D.


Keller Coker offers private lessons in Trombone.


Christopher Woitach teaches jazz guitar.


In additional to instrumental works, recently the big band expanded to include vocal jazz.


As is the focus at this Oregon music school, performance opportunities abound.
