One of the best parts of the music school at Western Oregon University is you have a plethora of performance opportunities. Being a small school that covers a wide range of genres means that you will have plenty of performance opportunities your first term. In contrast, at some of the bigger schools, you may have to wait until your Junior or Senior year to win performance slots.
The variety of ensembles gives a taste of what is available:

- Soulstice (Vocal Jazz)
- Singer Songwriter
- Early Music (best in the state)
- Guitar Ensemble (wide variety of styles from classical to rock to jazz)

- Spectrum! (new music compositions)
In addition, regular vocal performances, collaborative piano recitals and student recitals create even more opportunity.
