Singer Songwriter
category: Music Department,
Perhaps the most diverse, interesting and impressive ensembles at Western Oregon University, is the singer songwriter group. Each quarter musicians from many genres gather to create new songs with unique arrangements.
The group is led by veteran jazz guitarist and composer, Christopher Woitach. In addition to producing numerous CDs of his own, Woitach collaborates with hundreds of professional recording artists. With performance experience in jazz, rock, pop, folk, blue grass and country music genres, Woitach is well positioned to lead the Singer songwriter group in creating powerful arrangements of original material.
Some of the singer songwriter contributions border on musical theater.
An example of recent creativity was a composition by guitarist Stuart Cregger which combined a hard rock ballad with string quartet. Always a hit concert, you'll want to catch these performers at the FREE concerts BEFORE the become big stars. And, if you're a musician looking for a great Oregon music school, join us!
